Exciting Day

Well yesterday was another exciting day in Missouri weather. All week long I had heard it was going to rain Thursday, but as I got ready to head to the Greenhouse our good ole weatherman said "well it really looks like all the rain is going to miss us and hit us in the evening hours" So I head to work and water all my little flowers. About 12 (having just finished up watering everything) I thought "man sure looks cloudy" I flipped on the news just in time for the weather as it begins to pour down raining. But it cleared off and got extremely humid. Things were moving a little slow yesterday so I was sitting in my little shed reading a book when my phone rang. It was Nenaw telling me they had just issued Thunderstorm warnings. I said okay and flipped on the TV. Sure enough, while on the phone with Nenaw, Sheila called to tell me her weather radio was going off and warn me. I was glad they both did cause I was looking at sunny skies. I stepped out to see the East was looking pretty bad. But according to the news reports it was all going East of me. No need to worry. As I waited on customers I kept thinking to myself, "boy back over by the house sure looks bad" Mom called shortly after to tell me the tornado sirens were going off. I said, "still sunny here, but looks like it is moving this way" I noticed my customers were looking at the sky so I told them what was heading our way. They all took what they had picked out and sat it back and asked if I would hold it till after the storm. They all left. Mom called again about the time she called I looked up above my now dark head. The clouds were rotating. Mom wanted me to head home but I told her with the clouds rotating right over head I wasn't going to drive I was off to the store. I threw the money in the car and closed the gate and ran up to the store. I stood outside with a couple Alps workers watching the storm move in. Finally things died down were I was and I went back out to my store, but instead of going in I sat in the back end of my car and watched the weather. I got a couple good pictures on my phone and one I now for a fact was a tornado cause I watched it drop down a ways then drift back up in the clouds. I shot a quick picture of it and it was in the general area where the damage was done. The whole time I just kept thinking "no rain till late tonight!" Guess they missed that one!
