Monday we were having a nice day at home. Mom had just arrived home that afternoon from the grocery store. She noticed the cat was acting really strange. I had heard the cat but didn't think anything of it cause the cat is really strange. I saw Tatter (the cat) looking out the window and I just assumed there was a bird in the yard or a bug on the screen. Mom noticed the cat was acting a little more crazy than normal and was looking at something in the window and could see what looked like a stick in the window so she went to investigate.
Now I should pause for a second to tell you about the windows in the front of the house. They are the really old push out kind. We used to push them out from inside the house but Pierce decided to break off the arms you pushed the windows out with. So for a little over a year now to open these windows is a two-person job. The inside person inserts a butter knife into the slot where the arm use to be and pushed while someone else goes outside and pulls the window open. A few weeks ago when the weather started being so nice we opened these windows up. However, when Ike rolled threw a week or so ago and it was raining in someone went outside and pushed the windows shut... they did not close them but pushed them too enough that it looked closed when you walked by them.
Now back to my story, and you will see why all the info above was important. So Tatter is standing at the window attacking what appears to be a stick. But when mom goes to see why the cat was acting so strange she realizes it was not a stick in the window it was a SNAKE! It appears a snake realized the window was slightly open. It crawled up in between the window and the screen and was heading for slight opening where the arm use to be. It was only about an inch away but got stopped by Tatter. Well mom and I got the window open. I pushed it out and watched the snake and told her where it was going and she took out a butcher knife and chopped the snake’s head off.
As you can imagine, I have had the creeps all week now. The window has now been SLAMMED shut to be sure this doesn't happen again (and they will remain shut). I have checked everywhere in the house I feel a snake could be (just incase it wasn't the first one that noticed the window was open) and Tatter is now my hero. He has been showered with love and treats for keeping that snake out of my house.

Give that cat a gold medal & some of the best cat food you can find. That is like one of my worst nightmares finding a snake in the house. I am creeped out just reading it!
